Knight, Josephine ‘Jo’

Josephine “Jo” Dursi Knight, 79, of 106 Glen Rd S., went home to be with the Lord and the Blessed Mother on Sunday, May 4, 2014, peacefully, at the home of her daughter. Also by her side were her son-in-law and beloved grandchildren.

She was born in Rome on November 24, 1934, a daughter of the late Louis and Angela Sergio Dursi. She married Warren “Jim” Knight who passed away in 1977.

Jo is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Robert Watson; along with her two precious grandchildren, Justin, (her “Little Prince”) and Lily (her “Only Sunshine”). They were Jo’s greatest joy. She was predeceased by her baby grandson Peyton, our Angel in Heaven, in 2012.

She is also survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and David Kotary of Rome, Norma and Don DeOrio, of California and Irene and Tom Maher of Texas; two brothers, Dick Dursi, of Rome, and Bob Dursi, of California; and a brother-in-law Art Mosca.

She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Louis Corgliano, and a sister Elaine Mosca.

Jo was a retired Secretary at Griffiss Air Force Base. After her retirement she worked for Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Her faith in God continues to be a source of inspiration and strength to her family. Jo was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

She was blessed to be cared for by her family; her extraordinary nephew and godson, Dr. Keith DeOrio and his wife Adele of Arizona. Her devoted sisters, Norma who was also instrumental in her care, Irene who provided unconditional love and support from a distance and Betty and Dick who were fortunate to care for her here. Her very special niece, Lynne Mincio, who Jo thought of as her other daughter, husband Matt and children, Joshua, Cameron, godchild Elizabeth and Chase, flew to her side to bring love, comfort and peace. She was also supported by her special friends, Adam and Janelle Kopytowski of Verona.

The Family would like to express a special thank you to Fr. Paul Angelicchio, Fr. Robert Kelly, Fr. Philip Hearn and Deacon Michael Gudaitis, who provided Jo with continual spiritual support and guidance.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 11:00 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to the Mass.
