Lanzi, Mary F.
Mary F. Lanzi, 83, of Rome, went to be with the Lord on April 29, 2014. in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Rome on May 5, 1930 to Anthony and Amalia Fusco. She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1947. She began working at the Board of Education eventually becoming secretary to the Superintendent. She was a member of the Civil Service Secretaries Association. She was also a member and an officer of the Marion Guild of St. John the Baptist Church. Mary and her husband were longtime members of the Crestwood Golf Course. Her greatest joy was baking, especially Italian pastries.
On August 11, 1956, she was united in marriage to Armand Lanzi at St. John the Baptist Church. They shared a union of 44 years until his passing on November 17, 2000.
Mary is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Bill Rossi; her nephew Bill and Gina Rossi; her niece Lorraine and Ken Talarico; and her beloved great-nephew and nieces, Kenny Talarico Jr., Gianna Talarico, Anabella Rossi and Matia Rossi.
The family would like to thank the Hospice nurses, most especially Cheryl for the compassion and care shown to Mary. A very special thank you to Terrie, her caretaker, who made it possible for Mary to remain at home until the end and treated her as if she were her family.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:30 at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be made in Mary’s name to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund or to Hospice Palliative Care, Inc. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
