Rizzo, Vito
Vito Rizzo, 98, of Rome, passed away at home on January 11, 2014. He was born on January 28, 1915 in Oneida, the son of Vito and Mary Panzica Rizzo. On December 27, 1941 in St. John the Baptist Church he married Anna M. Valvo who passed away on December 19, 2005. It was a blessed union of 64 years. He proudly served with the US Army during WW II. He retired as a tractor operator at Revere Copper and Brass, Inc. He had a passion for walking, tinkering on projects and attended morning Mass daily. He enjoyed antique cars and once had been a member of the Tappet Twirlers Car Club. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Vito is survived by his beloved family, Vito C. Rizzo of Rome, a daughter-in-law; Kathy Rizzo and David Baluta of FL, cherished grandchildren and their spouses; Christine Rizzo, Anna and Darrell Oliver, Mary and Michael Bonney, Vito C. Rizzo, Jr. and Janell Greene, Nicholas and Kristen Rizzo, Thomas and Sarah Rizzo and Julie and Ben Coir, great grandchildren; Andrew, Aaron and Christine Oliver, Dasey, Vito III and Lorenzo James Rizzo, Jordan and Kaden Elliott, Lorenzo Joseph Rizzo and Ryan Coir; a sister, Lucia "Betty" Rizzo of Oneida, a brother and sister-in-law; James and Mary Rizzo of NV, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Jack and Mary Ann Valvo of Rome, a sister-in-law; Helen Valvo of Rome and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Lorenzo "Larry" Rizzo. Funeral services will be celebrated on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
