Spadafora, Sara Coia

Sarah Coia Spadafora, 100, of Rome, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 in Rome Memorial Hospital SNF. She was born on September 21, 1913 in Rome the daughter of Angelo and Josephine Console Coia. On April 2,1934 in St. John the Baptist Church she married Silvio "Spaddy" Spadafora who passed away on December 20, 1993. She was a graduate of RFA class of 1931. Sarah loved playing cards weekly, with friends and family, and was a Master Bridge Player. Sarah is survived by her beloved family, 5 generations of nieces and nephews, including Angeline DiBerardino Pasqualetti, Nancy DiBerardino Travis, Vincent and Suzanne DiBerardino, Henry and Deloris Coia, Ida Coia Giambona, Thomas and Albena Santelli, Lewis Santelli, Joseph Pasqualetti and Irene DiBerardino. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary DiBerardino and Anna Santelli and a brother Libro Coia. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Rome Hospital, third floor for their compassion and care of Sarah. Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 9:00 in St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
