DiDone, John

John DiDone, 97, of Rome passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in the Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 23, 1916 in Rome the son of Dominick and Ascenza DiMaggio Didone. On October 12, 1940 in St. John the Baptist Church he married Mary Scicchitano. He was educated in Rome Schools. He retired from Revere Copper and Brass, Inc. after more than 40 years of faithful employment. He enjoyed yard work, news programs, Yankee baseball broadcasts and in his younger years, hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. John is survived by his beloved family, his wife of 73 years, Mary, a daughter and son-in-law Rita and Richard Keller of Coraopolis, PA, a son Donald DiDone of Rome, cherished grandchildren; Richard S. Keller, Pamela Gray and Jennifer Keller, 5 great grandchildren, two sisters, Anita Garafalo and Mary Ensenat both of Rome, a brother and sister-in-law, Dominick and Lena DiDone of Rome and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Josephine DiDone, , a sister and brother-in-law, Lena and Nicholas Schultz, two brothers-in-law, Gabriel Garafalo and Nat Ensenat and a grandson Gary Keller. The family wishes to thank the staff of Bethany Gardens for their considerate care of John over the past several years. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:00 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
