Spado, Patsy A.

Patsy A. Spado, 89, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3, 2013 in Rome Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 12, 1924 in Rome a son of Anthony and Anna "Lizzie" Ferrucci Spado. On September 17, 1949, in St. John the Baptist Church, he married Mary Faroni, a blessed union of 64 years. He attended RFA. He proudly served with the US Army during WW II and served in India, Burma and China. He retired in 1981as a machinist with the Rome Manufacturing Company. He served the City of Rome as a councilor (alderman) for 16 years in the 1st ward. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and going to Vernon Downs. He was a former member of the American Legion, St. Gregory Society and the Toccolano Club and his usual meetings with his friends at DeMatteo's. Patsy is survived by his beloved family, his wife Mary; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Dan Redmond of Hilton Head, SC, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Anthony and Linda Spado of Rome and Patrick Spado of Hilton Head, SC, cherished grandchildren and their spouses, AJ and Megan Spado, Christie and Mike Kerr, Nathan Redmond and Ryan Redmond, a sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and David Hilts of Rome, a brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Nina Spado of CA, a sister-in-law Delores Spado of Rome and his in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Angelo Spado and Joseph Spado. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the entire staff of Rome Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery with Military Honors. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
