Tsionas, Thomas "Tommy"

Thomas "Tommy" Tsionas, 85, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013. He was born on April, 27, 1928 in Greece. He immigrated to the United States in January 1969, becoming an American citizen and resident of Rome, NY. Tommy was loved by many, especially during his years baking with his son-in-law John Zourdos. His kind, independent spirit and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Anyone who knew Tommy's independent spirit would also know that when he decided it was his time to go he would let go, saying, "when it's time to go, you got to go". Due to increasing health conditions Tommy passed in his sleep with his best friend, dog and companion Alex. Tommy will forever be in his family's hearts, loved and missed by his wife, Chrisanthi Tsionas, daughter, Helen Zourdos, son-in-law, John Zourdos, grandchildren Rose and Dimitri and his dear friend Michael Corley, whom he loved as a second grandson. Tommy will also be missed by his dear friend Juanda Stackhouse and his brother-in-law George Christopoulos and his wife Pat and their children and grandchildren. He is predeceased by his three brothers and sister, all of whom resided in Greece. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 325 Waring Rd, Dewitt with Fr. David Smith officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
