Sam A. DeGeorge, 78 of Rome, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013 with his loving family by his side. He was born June 14, 1934 in Rome a son of Salvatore and Mary Dursi DeGeorge. He was married to Annette Grosso. He was a graduate of RFA and only certain people knew that he was a graduate of UCLA. He proudly served with the US Army National Guard of New York for three years and was discharged as a Specialist Third Class E-4. He was the owner of D & D Carpets for 40 years. Sam enjoyed baseball, football and his trips to the casino. Sam is survived by his beloved family, three daughters and a son-in-law, Roxanne and Brian Thomas of Rome, Colleen Giardino of Rome and Terri Adolfi of Oneida, his cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Tara and Jason Richards, Patrick and Joy Thomas, Michelle Thomas, Cassandra and Derek Larson, Justin Giardino, Jillian Giardino, Samantha and Eddie Milosz, Brandi Adolfi and Nazie and Jaclyn Adolfi and six great grandchildren, a brother-in-law Anthony Gerace of NC, his companion of several years, Mary Lou Umbach and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson Joseph P. Giardino, wife Maria Trunfio, a sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Jack D’Agazio a sister Katherine Gerace, and a brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Lucy DeGeorge. Sam was a very generous man, especially with his children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12 noon at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
