DeMasi, Roma Iannotti

Roma Joan Iannotti DeMasi passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2013 in the Rome Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. 

She was born on October 28, 1925, in Rome, the daughter of Giuseppe and Immaculata DeCicco Iannotti. She grew up on 4th Street in East Rome surrounded by the warmth and love of her family and the large Italian American community. As a teenager, she moved with her family to 608 N. Washington St. 

In St. John the Baptist Church on November 30, 1946 , Roma was united in marriage with Victorio DeMasi, a brick and stone mason from Italy . They designed and built their house at 309 W. Locust St. After 41 years of cherished marriage, Victorio died on September 26, 1988. 

Roma’s love of family and friends never diminished. She was known for her kind heart and gracious hospitality. A skilled cook and baker, she enjoyed entertaining, especially during the holidays. She truly made the house a home. 

She was a member of St. Paul’s Church, the YMCA, and various senior citizen organizations. 

Roma will be deeply missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Francisco R. Martinez of Rome; son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Eileen DeMasi of Hamilton; special nephew, Mario DeMasi of South Carolina; grandchildren Victor DeMasi, Gina DeMasi, and Francisco Martinez III and his wife Cristina; great grandson Francisco Roberto Martinez IV; brother Orlando Iannotti; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Angelina Barr and JoAnn and Robert Kern; other loving family members including nieces, nephews and cousins; and numerous friends. 

In addition to Victorio, Roma was preceded in death by her beloved sister Yolanda Iannotti Guaspari; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Louisa DeMasi, Ann DeMasi, Angela DeMasi Tsihlis, Neil DeMasi, Mario DeMasi, and Peter Tsihlis; niece Elizabeth Kern and nephew Charles DeMasi. 

Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday morning at 11:00 at St. Paul ’s Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Robert Kelly as celebrant; where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery. 

In accordance with Roma’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
