Jason A. McCullough


Jason A. McCullough, 51, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2020 in Upstate Medical Center.

He was born on August 3, 1968 in Berlin, Germany the son of Wayne and Janis Burke McCullough. On June 11, 2016 he married Lorraine Carinci at the Delta Lake Inn. He graduated from RFA in 1987. He worked as a wire salesman for Kris Tech Wire Co. for 29 years.

Jason enjoyed camping, fishing and cooking. He enjoyed taking vacations to Key West and deep sea fishing. He made many friends there that became family. He loved his classic 1980 TransAm and enjoyed showing it off.

Jason is survived by his beloved family, his father Wayne; his wife Lorraine; daughters and a son-in-law, Alainna (William) Meyer of Verona and Caitlyn Carinci of Rome; sons, Kenneth McCullough of Rochester and Benjamin Clark of Rome; cherished grandchildren, Aubree, Emily and Leslie Meyer; brother and sister-in-law, Justin (Beth) McCullough and their children, , Jared and Hannah McCullough; inlaws Thomas (Irene) Carinci and their children, Thomas (Terry) Carinci, James (Anneleise) Carinci and Christopher (Kelly) Carinci and many special nieces, nephews that he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his mother Janis Burke McCullough.

Jason grew up in an Air Force Military family and lived in California and Alaska before moving to Rome when he was in elementary school. He had a heart of gold; he loved everyone like family and would do anything for anyone.

He was an exceptional cook; he loved to feed his family and friends. He got great joy in seeing people enjoy his dishes and was known for his home made Salsa. He loved his family and friends deeply; especially his children and grandchildren. His granddaughter Aubree was his world. When Emily and Leslie came along, he was overjoyed.

Jason was very proud of his son Kenny, he loved to talk about what a wonderful man he had become. He was so proud of Ben graduating MVCC this year and Caitlyn making high honor roll and going into 10th grade. He was honored to be Alainna’s dad and to see her married and have children. He loved his nephew Jared and niece Hannah very much and was so proud of their accomplishments. Every niece and nephew were important to him; he loved them with all his heart.

Jason’s extended family of friends, Billy, Kevin, Ron, George and Crystal, Asa and their family. Jason loved all of them so much.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday morning at 11:00 in St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Interment will be in Rome Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. Please wear masks and keep social distancing.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions in Jason’s memory to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church.
