Vincent J. Nardozza


Vincent J. Nardozza, 83, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2020 in the Rome Memorial Hospital.

Vincent was born June 21, 1936 in Oneida, the son of Vito and Eva Nardozza.

After graduation from Syracuse University, Vinny found his passion as an Electrical Engineer. His work in research and development afforded him the opportunity to travel the world. Later in life, Vinny achieved Division Chief status at Rome Air Development Center. He was described as “one of those unique individuals who combined technical and management skills with vision, and a keen sense of knowing how to get the job done”. He retired after 32 years of dedicated service with numerous awards and recognitions.

He was a loving husband to Marie; father to Stephen (Maureen) Nardozza and Palma (Michael Schafer); grandfather to Amanda, Jake, and Noah; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Vinny enjoyed spending time with his family at his camp on Oneida Lake. He greatly valued his family, his morning coffee, and his boat. He was a respected and highly dependable man who enjoyed the simple things in life. Vinny would ride his bike to his favorite destinations every day and enjoy the beautiful Sylvan Beach Sunsets every night. Above anything else, Vinny took great pride in ensuring the safety and happiness of his loved ones.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Entombment will be in the Columbarium in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in the spring.

Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the Mass.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 West Embargo Street.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Vinny’s memory to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church.
