Vita M. Provenzano


Vita M. Provenzano, 93, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 in St. Lukes Hospital with her loving family by her side.

She was born on October 3, 1926 in Pittston, PA the daughter of Gaetano and Marianna BelCastro Mirisola. On June 12, 1954 in St. Rocco’s Church, Pittston, PA she married John J. Provenzano who passed away on April 16, 2004, two months shy of their 50th Anniversary. Together they had five children whom they loved and were proud of.

Vita was a graduate of Pittston High School in 1944 and went to work for the JC Penney Co. until her marriage. She moved to Rome where she worked for the JC Penney Co. on W. Dominick St. In 1974 she went to work for Herb Philipson’s in the men’s department for 14 years retiring in 1988.

She was an avid NY Yankees and Syracuse Basketball fan.

Vita is survived by her beloved family, Josephine (Wayne) Clark of Rome, Gaetano (Barbara Lowerre) Provenzano of Lake Worth, FL, Marianne (Paul) Uvanni of Rome, John L. (Susan Buck) Provenzano of Panama City Beach, FL, and Elizabeth (John) Lucas of Greensboro, NC; seven beautiful grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday, November 9th at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Private interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning from 10-11 a.m. at the Church prior to the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Vita’s name may be made to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund or the Rome Rescue Mission. Envelopes will be available at the Church.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
