Viola, Rose M.

Rose M Viola of Nashua , NH and a former Roman died peacefully in her sleep on her 92nd birthday, on Wednesday September 25th, 2013. Born in Rome , she was the youngest child of Raffaele and Raffaella (Garafalo) Varano. On January 3rd 1946, Rose was united in marriage to Peter J. Viola. He sadly passed away at the young age of 37 in 1959. Rose was a lifelong baseball fan and enjoyed Yankees games. In the last few years of her life living in NH, she nearly converted to being a Red Sox fan. In her younger years she was involved with her sons as a den mother and also taught CCD for several years. Her favorite activity was to go what she called “jiddy-on” – going out and about with no particular plans. Rose was a communicant of St. John’s Church . Besides her husband, Rose was predeceased by her sister, Connie Sabia, her brothers, Leonard, Paul and Angelo Varano, and a grandson, Peter James Lovett. She also endured the grief of losing her son Peter in 2010. Surviving are her son Joseph and his wife Eileen (Wortman) Viola of New Hampshire, her daughter-in-law Laurie (Lovett) Viola of Rome, 6 grandchildren; Lisa Viola and her fiancé Mike Stametz, Peter Viola and his wife BobbyJo, Andrew Viola and his fiancée Stephanie Di Paolo, all of Rome, and Michael Viola, Kristen (Viola) Roy and her husband Shawn, and Karen Viola, all of New Hampshire. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren; Peter, Bella, and Tyler Viola of Rome and Jack and Maddy Roy of New Hampshire, a brother-in-law, Steve Lamascola, a cousin Rose Tardabone, many nieces and nephews and her dear friend Angeline Pasqualetti. The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Nashua, NH, The Courville at Nashua - Long-Term Care and Rehabilitation Center, Nashua, NH and Willow Manor – Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, Lowell, MA for the understanding and excellent care given to Rose. Friends and Family are invited to a graveside service on Thursday, Oct 3rd at 1:00 PM in the old St. Peters Cemetery followed by a gathering and luncheon at the home Lisa Viola and Mike Stametz. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
