Jean Testa Guiliano, 91, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013 in the Rome Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on February 7, 1922 in Italy, the daughter of Anthony and Tomasina Testa. She moved to Utica, NY in 1923. She was educated in Utica Schools, Wetmore and Proctor. On October 4, 1944 she married Salvatore (Sam) Guiliano, a blessed marriage of 68 years. When he was discharged from the US Army they made their home in Rome. She had many hobbies which included her love of gardening and roses, crocheting, knitting and sewing many outfits for the Infant of Prague at the Transfiguration Church. Bowling is what she enjoyed the most and winning many trophies over the 25 years of playing. She also loved playing cards with the girls, Julia Izzo and Connie Beckwith and her friends Toni and Vito Urso. She belonged to the Ava Dorfman Senior Citizens Center and bingo was her favorite game. Jean was survived by her husband Sam, blessed with four children, Theresa (Terry) Stanwix, Samuel and Donna Guiliano, Thomas and Bonita Guiliano and Carmel and Tom Zmudosky, cherished grandchildren; Pamela, Debra, Lisa, Aaron, Jenny, Katy, Laura, Tom and Tessa, great grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Nicholas, Taylor, Santino, Gracie, Luca, Joey, Julianna and Ryan, a brother and sister-in-law Dominick and Shirley Testa whom she adored. She was predeceased by three sisters, Felicia DelDuca, Rose Barnaba and Pauline Guiliano, three brothers, Mello, John and Donald Testa and a son-in-law John Stanwix. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Tallandini and the staff of 3N, Rome Hospital for making the transition comforting for our family. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:00 at St. John the Baptist Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. Please omit flowers. Contributions in Jean’s memory may be made to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
