John Edward Hitchings passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital following a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. John was born on September 7, 1923. He was the son of Herbert and Mary Sharp Hitchings and was one of nine children. For most of his life John resided in Rome, NY. He married Faith Marucci in 1943. He proudly served his country in the United States Naval Air Force during World War II. He worked for Sears Oil Company as a Sales Representative for thirty four years. Salvatore J. “Sal” Frank, 92, of Rome, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 in the Rome Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born on February 12, 1925 in Rome the son of Antonio and Antoinette Franco. On April 12, 1947 in St. John the Baptist Church he married Norma Cingranelli, a blessed union of 70 years. Sal attended Rome Schools. He proudly served in the US Army during World War II. He retired after working as a packaging specialist at GAFB. Norman J. Snyder, 84, of Clinton, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. He was born in Buffalo, NY the son of Norman and Dorothy Roehauer Snyder. On January 27, 1962 he married Roberta “Robin” Walker. He proudly served with the US Air Force from 1949 to 1953. He worked, until his retirement, as an engineer with many airlines starting with Mohawk Airlines and retiring in 1993 with US Air. Norm enjoyed flying, the arts and music. Louis "Lou" Salvatore Biondi passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, having lived and enjoyed 80 years devoted to and loved by his family and many friends. Lou was born in Rome on January 10, 1937, the youngest child of the late Edgardo and Ausilia (Marino) Biondi, Sr. He was a 1954 graduate of Rome Free Academy. Lou married his high school sweetheart Faith Smith on June 1, 1957 at St. Peter's Church in Rome. Lou and Faith lived the majority of their lives in Rome, having bought their first home on Liberty Street in 1962, they lived there for 51 years until moving to Winona Lake, Indiana for health reasons.
